Student Progression Ambassadors 2012: inspiring young people to achieve

StudentThe University of Warwick and Coventry University have collaboratively developed the Student Progression Team, which aims to place current university students in a small number of schools and colleges across the Coventry and Warwickshire region. The Widening Participation Team is currently recruiting for a group of Student Progression Ambassadors, to work in local schools to inspire young people to achieve.

Who or what is a Progression Ambassador?

The Student Progression Ambassadors scheme is designed to support school and college students from a widening participation background at key decision points with the aim of encouraging their progression to higher education.

Ambassadors will act as mentors to a small group of secondary school students, providing encouragement and support as they move through years 9 -11. The project aims to break down barriers to learning, inspiring goal setting and providing information to those considered able to progress to higher education.

Please note that the mentoring will focus on aspirations, study skills and looking at career options, so an interest in a specific subject is not required.

Is being a Progression Ambassador for you?

  • Yes! If you're interested in working with young people.
  • Yes! If you can share your enthusiasm for university and the benefits of higher education with young people who may be unsure about applying.
  • Yes! If you're from a non-traditional university background and can you share your experiences.
