UK-India Education and Research Initiative: Third call for applications
The UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) started in April 2006 with the aim of enhancing educational links between India and the UK. In 2010 the initiative was extended for 5 years from 2011 to 2016 in an announcement by the Prime Minister David Cameron and Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
The third call for bids to the UKIERI is now published on the UKIERI website.
In this latest round partnerships with state governments, public institutions and businesses are being strongly encouraged.
Warwick colleagues are encouraged to consider particularly those calls under Strand 2 – Innovation Partnerships, which include:
DST UKIERI Thematic Partnerships
To support research and innovation partnerships across 6 specific subject areas. The areas include:
- Sustainable energy supply
- Food production and security
- Water supply and security
- Health and Disease
- Innovation including social impact and intellectual property
- Research & Science Policy
UGC UKIERI Thematic Partnerships
To support research, faculty exchange and innovation across all subject areas. The call is open for all public funded HE institutions in India and the UK.
UKIERI Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
To be announced in late March 2013.
Before you apply
As there may be a limit on the number of bids that can be submitted by an institution, and in previous calls to UKIERI information changed regularly, colleagues are strongly encouraged to get in touch with Sarah Patrick in the International Office on extension 22647 or at sarah dot patrick at warwick dot ac dot uk to share their interest and check for information updates.
International Partnership Fund
Colleagues should also be aware that applications for collaboration in India can also be considered as part of the International Partnership Fund, an internal funding scheme which opened on 1 March 2013 (deadline for applications: 4 June 2013). Warwick in India
Warwick has a long history of exciting engagement with India and is looking to expand on this, developing stronger and deeper ties with India. Hundreds have given their views and ideas on developing a Warwick in India strategy through a community wide consultation. New collaborative research in India and with Indian collaborators will be a key element of the emerging strategy.
