Shortlist announced: Warwick Prize for Writing 2015

2We’re delighted to reveal the six books that make up the 2015 Warwick Prize for Writing shortlist. Showcasing emerging writing talent, as well as internationally recognised authors, the list - announced on Friday 2 October at The Times and Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival - includes poetry, fiction and non-fiction books.

The 2015 short list is:

  • We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler (Serpent’s Tail) - Fiction
  • Her Birth by Rebecca Goss (Carcanet) – Poetry
  • Redeployment by Phil Klay (Canongate) – Fiction
  • A Man In Love by Karl Ove Knausgaard translated by Don Bartlett (Harvill Secker) – Non-fiction
  • Lila by Marilynne Robinson (Virago) – Fiction
  • Skyfaring by Mark Vanhoenacker (Chatto & Windus) – Non-fiction

The titles were selected by a judging panel of acclaimed authors. They include Warwick alumna, author and dramatist A.L Kennedy. She is joined by academic Robert Macfarlane, actress and director Fiona Shaw, Lonely Planet founder and Warwick Hon grad Tony Wheeler and physician and writer Gavin Francis.

They must now choose an overall winner to be announced on Tuesday 10 November.

Nominations are placed by students, staff and alumni from Warwick and Monash University. This year for the first time international publishers were also invited to make direct submissions. To find out more and follow the latest news go to the Warwick Prize website.
