Warwick students win News UK placement

Congratulations to Arthi Nachiappan, Philosophy and James Roberts, History, who were picked from hundreds of applicants to take part in a prestigious week-long placement with News UK.

Their week involved masterclasses with Times columnist and broadcaster David Aaronovitch, Editor-In-Chief of The Sun Tony Gallagher, Editor of the Times' political site Matt Chorley, News Editor of The Sunday Times, Stephen Bevan, and Chief Football Writer for The Times, Henry Winter.

Over the course of the week, they investigated potential changes that EU students might face applying to universities in the UK. This will form part of the coverage for the newspaper they’ve producing during their five days. Their finished newspaper will be judged by Sun editors.

Arthi and James, both Boar journalists, had to write an opinion piece on a topic they felt passionate about, before attending an interview. Hundreds of applicants were whittled down to just 20 during the recruitment process.
