First WMG Academy students join Warwick community

WMG taster dayThe first students at the new WMG Academy are on campus for their induction this week, preparing for the start of term in their brand new school.

Over 230 students are joining years 10 and 12 of the Academy on Mitchell Avenue. They’ll be visiting Warwick’s engineering facilities this week and meeting Academy staff and Warwick academics involved in teaching courses.

Principal, Mrs Kate Tague, said:

We are very excited to finally get our students in and get started! We have had tremendous support from the local community, the University of Warwick and our employer partners, all of whom have believed in our vision for embedding technical engineering and business skills within education."

If you’re a Warwick academic or postgraduate and would like to get involved in working with the WMG Academy, please contact the team at info at wmgacademy dot org dot uk to discuss how to get involved.

Applications are now open for entry into years 10 and 12 in September 2015.

Interested students and their parents are invited to an open day on Saturday 11 October 2014.

You’ll be able to take a look around the facilities, meet employer partners, try your hand at a taster lesson and enjoy the interactive exhibition. The team will be on hand to answer all your questions and some of our first student cohort will be keen to share with you their first-hand view of what it’s really like to be a young engineer.

Register to attend the Open Day

Demand for 2015 places is expected to be high and interested students are advised to consider applying prior to the open day, as applications will be dealt with on a first-come, first-served basis.
