Congratulations to Sarah Moss shortlisted for literary prize

The Royal Society of Literature Names for the sea book coverhas announced the shortlist for the 2013 RSL Ondaatje Prize, including Dr Sarah Moss, Creative Writing Tutor in the Department of English & Comparative Literary Studies at Warwick.

The £10,000 RSL Ondaatje Prize is in its tenth year. It is awarded annually to a book of the highest literary merit – fiction, non-fiction or poetry – evoking the spirit of a place.

Sarah Moss is one of six shortlisted writers for her work: Names for the Sea (Granta)

The judges commented:

Moss gives you a series of marvellous insights into Iceland without any of travel writing’s usual narrative tricks and tropes – but by writing honestly and intimately about her family’s life there.
