In Memoriam: Peter Tucker

The University is saddened to hear of the death of Peter Tucker. He was Warwick’s first Head Librarian and one of the University’s earliest appointments.

Peter joined the nascent University of Warwick in 1963, two years before Warwick took its first undergraduates, under his able and dedicated management the University Library grew substantially. He served at Warwick until 1989 and some of his successes in overseeing the evolution of the Library can be read in an article he wrote for 'The Library World Journal' in 1967.

Peter had previously been the Sub-Librarian in charge of the Institute of Education Library at the University of Leeds.

A memorial service will be held on Monday 6 October at Maddingley Hall, Cambridge. If you would like to attend or pass on your condolences please contact the Registrar's office at Registrar at warwick dot ac dot uk.
