Updates to council: Philippa Glover appointed as Secretary

As Chair of the University’s Council, myself and my colleagues on the Council, are delighted to announce that Philippa Glover has been appointed as Secretary to Council. Pippa will take up her new role from the beginning of June 2016. She will add immense value to how we are able to discharge our duties for Warwick, and joins an excellent executive team with the right capability and leadership capacity for Warwick’s future development.

As Secretary to Council, Pippa will report directly to the Chair of Council (Pro-Chancellor) and will be the strategic adviser to the Chair and members of the Council – supporting them to give clear direction to the University Executive, ensuring compliance, assessment of overall institutional and sector impact and ensuring the highest standards of governance throughout the University in line with our statutes, ordinances and regulations and best practice in the sector.

This role was created as part of a suite of changes identified by the Registrar to enable the University administration to be fit for the future given the changes to the funding and regulation of HE, increasing competition, the extent of planned capital developments, the need to generate the required income funding, the ambitious work we have announced in the UK and overseas, and the day to day agility we need to embed within our services. It is accompanied by a refreshed role for the Registrar as Head of the Administration, and a new, separate, role of Chief Operating Officer. Further details on these posts will be announced in due course.

Pippa is currently Director of Governance and Assurance Services within the Deputy Registrar’s Office, where she has responsibility for a range of governance matters including institutional resilience, health and safety, legal services and internal audit."

Sir George Cox, Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council
