Warwick Student selected for Scholar at Web Summit

2Congratulations to 2nd year Philosophy student, Zara Yaqoob who as been selected as a Student Scholar at The Web Summit in Dublin.

The selection process entailed numerous interviews, in which Zara was chosen from 10,500 applications to attend as a 'Global Student Scholar'. It takes place mid-November for one week where some of the greatest names in tech and business will be attending. This includes individuals such as Peter Thiel, Drew Houston, Brendan Iribe and John Sculley.

Zara has always been passionate about technology and also how sustainability and the role of new technologies can improve conditions for LEDCs and is looking forward to the event.

I believe that technology can and is being used to solve some of the greatest problems that we face and it is vital for social innovation and entrepreneurship to be promoted throughout universities and students are encouraged to take part in new, exciting and potentially revolutionary ventures."

Web Summit has been called “the best technology conference on the planet”. Being a Student Scholar is a huge acheivement with other attendees range from Fortune 500 companies to the most exciting startups in the world.
