The Wind Orchestra and Brass Band will be performing a concert at 7:30pm on Monday 16 November in the Butterworth Hall, Warwick Arts Centre.
They will perform works by Phillip Sparke together with some well known classics from musicals and films including Lord of the Rings, Wicked! And Harry Potter.
The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum is hosting a seminar with Warwick mathematician Adam Boddison and visual artist Lesley Whelan, who will be looking back over their collaborative project "Equate". During the project, the pair explored how mathematical concepts could be used in artistic practice, and the challenges that this would bring.
The seminar will take place 4:00pm to 5:30pm on Tuesday 17 November in the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Jordan Well, Coventry, CV1 5QP. The event is free of charge and open to all who would like to attend. Refreshments will be provided.
This particular careers fair caters specifically for students interested in careers within the Engineering and Technology sectors. 61 companies are on campus specifically targeting Warwick students for their graduate opportunities. The workshop focuses on thinking patterns which may play a part in maintaining low self-esteem. It is an opportunity to learn about unhelpful patterns and how they operate, and to reflect on your own thinking style. The session will also cover some approaches to challenging negative thinking styles
Two films, directed by Warwick Graduates are coming to the Warwick Arts Centre this Autumn. Both screenings will take place in the Conference Room, Warwick Arts Centre, and cost £6.50 (or £5.25 for concessions).
Beyond Biba was produced by Film and Literature graduate Tom Walters, and Starsuckers was directed by Maths and Physics graduate Chris Atkins. Both screenings include a Q&A session with the Warwick graduate involved.
The Postgraduate Open Day is an opportunity for undergraduates and postgraduates alike to consider the University's taught and research postgraduate offerings. This year's open day will take place on Wednesday 18 November 2009 from 10am to 4pm.

The University's Counselling service is running two workshops for students entitled "Beat the Blues", aimed at helping students with low mood, anxiety, reduced activity and sleep difficulties.
The Warwick International Development Summit (WIDS) will take place on campus from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November. The overarching theme for this year’s Summit will be "Development for the Modern Age: Crisis, Climate and Co-operation".
Warwick Student Cinema will host this term’s “All Nighter”, an evening of films that starts at 7:30pm and ends the following morning on Friday 20 November 2009 in lecture theatre L3.
Tickets will be on sale before films during Week 7 and at the event itself. Tickets sold on the door will be on a first come, first served basis so buy early to avoid disappointment. The event costs £7 for members of Warwick Student Cinema, £10 for non-members from the University, and £12 for external guests.

The Department of Biological Sciences is hosting a series of seminars on the work of Charles Darwin to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of his birth, and the 150th Anniversary of the publication of "On the Origin of Species".
Latin American specialist Dr Rebecca Earle of the Department of History has organised an event at the British Museum, offering people the chance to experience Mexican cuisine through the ages. Those attending will be able to sample a variety of Mexican food from the frothed up chocolate and maize cakes of the 16th century to modern day tacos and fajitas.

Many of us experience levels of stress (or of its opposite, lethargy) which leave us feeling unable to cope.
This workshop will open up the question of the nature of stress; will help us link this to our own experience; will provide practical hints on de-stressing; and will teach a relaxation technique which can then be practised and built into everyday life.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
1. understand the origins of stress
2. know more about their own patterns of stress
3. check their lifestyle to help manage stress
4. above all, know more about how to relax on a regular basis
All students are welcome, whether stress is a minor issue or a major one in your life.

The Freshblood Theatre society, along with Codpiece Theatre, will perform "Pictures of John Gray", a play inspired by Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and the emotions of 2009. The performances will take place at 7:45pm every night from 25 to 28 November (week 8) in the Warwick Arts Centre Studio. Doors will open at 7:30pm.
"Pictures of John Gray" explores the life of the man who was to become immortalised in Wilde's novel using music, dance and fantastic new writing. The entire company have been involved in creating this brilliant new show and the results are truly stunning.

The CAPITAL Centre and the Drama Society have come together to put on a free production of Neil LaBute's "The Mercy Seat". They will perform the play in the Capital Centre Studio on Saturday 28 November and Sunday 29 November.

Loss can take many forms in life: the death of a parent or friend or partner; loss of job, or home. Grief is very much a natural process and a normal part of life. However, that does not make it any easier. The aim of this workshop is to share in and think about experiences of grief, with a view to getting a perspective that will help the coping.
The Poetry Society meets on the first Monday of every month from 7pm to 9pm in the Learning Grid (room A or B) to share their own poetry, and discuss the work of an established poet.
The poet discussed on Monday 7 December will be Hafiz.

Warwick in Venice is playing host to a three day conference entitled "A Tale of Two Cities: Venice and Florence in the Renaissance" from Tuesday 8 December to Thursday 10 December 2009.
The conference celebrates the work of the late Professor Michael Mallett and the long-standing expertise of Warwick's History and History of Art Departments in Venetian and Florentine history. For more than 40 years, thanks to the efforts of Professor Mallett, the University has organised unique undergraduate programmes in Venice, and has built up an international reputation in Renaissance scholarship.

There will be two sessions for teaching staff involved in the University’s Widening Participation programmes during the Autumn term. The sessions aim to give academic staff the chance to share information and ideas about how to approach the teaching of Widening Participation students.
The second event will take place from 12:30pm to 1:30pm on Tuesday 8 December in the Teaching Grid. Lunch will be provided.
This will be a follow-up session to the above event. This time there will be colleagues present from local schools with clear Widening Participation profiles. The aim is both to share with them the outcomes of the previous session, and to seek to discuss best practice for the teaching of less traditional higher education capable learners, building relationships for the future sharing of teaching and learning ideas in the process.
