Teach First 2011

This summer will see the Teach First conference return again to Warwick for its National Summer Institute between Saturday 16 July and Friday 5 August, with around 700 delegates on campus throughout this period. The numbers will increase to over 1300 for the second week of the event, when last year's participants return to Warwick.

The Teach First Summer Institute will coincide with a number of events on campus, including, during the first week, the University's Summer Degree Congregation.

If you are involved in the organisation of any event during the Teach First Summer Institute and have any questions or concerns regarding the availability of rooms or public spaces at this time, please contact Julie Taylor at Julie.M.Taylor@warwick.ac.uk – who is specifically managing Graduation week space allocation.

More Information

Teach First is a national independent education charity that works to address educational disadvantage by transforming exceptional graduates into effective, inspirational teachers and leaders in all fields. Teach First targets high calibre, motivated graduates who would not normally consider a career in teaching and works to place them in challenging schools while supporting them to become innovative, impactful teachers.

Following a tender process led by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) and Teach First, Warwick’s Institute of Education is now one of the six regional Lead Providers to deliver the Teach First ITT programme, which leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) for participants.

The tender process saw a range of providers, who are rated highly by Ofsted, bid to provide the ITT for the 2011-2014 cohorts in partnership with Teach First. This tender process involved inviting ITT providers across England to demonstrate their capacity to train the increasing cohort size, their most recent inspection rating by Ofsted, and their commitment to partnership with Teach First.
