The Residential Life Team has been made aware of an opportunity available within the team for the role of Subwarden. The Residential Life Team is responsible for maintaining both discipline and pastoral care within the Halls of Residence. As a member of the Residential Life Team, you will be responsible for providing discipline and pastoral care for students in your area, including enforcing University Residential Accommodation Regulations, attending Warden’s briefings and Hall committee meetings, organising staff and student area Committees, and maintaining updated lists of students and Emergency Contact Forms for residents. Required SkillsYou will have strong demonstrable experience of working with others to provide pastoral care, including a good understanding of the requirements of pastoral care in the context of University life. You will also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills as you will be required to deal on a regular basis with residential students, members of your residential team, and other University departments. You must have excellent organisational skills as well as the ability to be creative in devising strategies to most effectively meet student needs. You should possess knowledge of the requirements/duties of the Residential Life Team as well as University regulations that pertain to this, and be confident in your ability to both enforce disciplinary requirements and deal with emergency situations if the need arises. You should be willing to be on call to deal with problems/issues that occur in both daytime and night time hours if the situation demands. You will be provided with an apartment at your Halls of Residence and a campus parking permit for a designated nearby car park. The University has a limited number of resident staff flats which are suitable for occupation with children. Please note that the current vacancy is not suitable for occupation with children.
