New Year's Honours 2011: Chancellor Knighted

Chancellor Sir Richard Lambert has been knighted as part of the Queen's New Year's Honours. This honour comes in recognition of his services to business as Director-General of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).

Four further honours were given to people connected with Warwick.

Emeritus Professor John Benington, Warwick Business School, was awarded a CBE for public service. The award is based on the work which John and his Institute of Governance and Public Management (IGPM) colleagues have done over the past 20 years to support public and voluntary services with research, teaching and organisational and leadership development, both in the UK and internationally.

Rehana Richens, a student with the School of Health and Social Studies was awarded a OBE for her services to midwifery and nursing. Rehana thanked her supervisor, Professor Gillian Hundt for her help and support.

Sir Alec Reed, an Honorary Professor of Warwick Business School has also been knighted for his services to business and charity. Sir Alec was appointed as an Honorary Professor in 2003 and has worked closely with the Centre for Small & Medium Sized Enterprises and the Mercia Institute of Enterprise. He has also worked on the development of entrepreneurship courses at WBS.

Andrew Entwistle, a member of the Universities/User Teaching and Research Action Partnership (UNTRAP) has been awarded an MBE for his services to Higher Education.
