Warwick's Vice-Chancellor to receive Honorary Degree

Warwick’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel Thrift is to be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Bristol this Friday in recognition of his many achievements within the field of geography. He will receive the honorary degree at Bristol’s summer graduation ceremony on Friday 9 July.

Professor Thrift gained his PhD in Geography from the University of Bristol in 1979 and his DSc from Bristol in 1992.

Orator for Professor Thrift, Wendy Larner, Professor of Human Geography and Sociology, School of Geographical Sciences at the University of Bristol, said: "Professor Thrift has had an extraordinary number of co-authors and collaborators over the years, encompassing a very diverse range of interests, intellects and personalities. These include fruitful working relationships with many of the leading figures in British geography and international social science, and it is a wonderful reflection on Professor Thrift's intellectual curiosity, academic generosity and good humour that he has been able to stimulate, support and sustain such wide-ranging contributions."
