Macmillan London to Paris Cycling Challenge
Elisabeth Robery (Language Centre) and Letizia Gramaglia (Learning and Development Centre) are taking part in the Macmillan London to Paris Cycling Challenge on 4-8 July. Over the four days they will be covering more than 480 km and combining long days in the saddle with some strenuous hill climbs!
Soccer Aid 2012
Coventry City Football Club are looking for volunteers to handle the phones at Fusion Contact Centre Service in Coventry for a few hours on Sunday 27 May to help take donations in support of Unicef's Soccer Aid.
Celebrities and football players from across the world will come together to support Soccer Aid. Each year this event raises millions of pounds that help to save the lives of children around the world. Volunteers will receive training, a goody bag, T-shirt and will be fed as well.
Cake sale: Friday 1 June 2012
A cake sale will be held in University House on Friday 1 June to raise money for the MS Society.
Multiple Sclerosis is a complex neurological condition that affects around 100,000 people in the UK. The money raised will enable the MS Society to provide emotional and practical support for sufferers as well as creating hope for the future through continuing research.
Donations of cakes and savouries (homemade or bought) would be greatly appreciated and should be brought to the seminar room at 10am on the day. Any containers you would like returned should be labelled and can be collected after the event.
Inline skating marathons
Student Stephen Nand-Lal is skating two inline skating marathons over the summer, raising money for British Heart Foundation and the Breast Cancer Campaign. He will be taking part in the Great Scottish Skate in Edinburgh on 28 July, and the Berlin inline skating marathon on 29 September.
Welcome St. George's - helping children of a garbage village in Mottamodia, Egypt
Nicola Doherty of the Psychology Department is Trustee and Co-Founder of the charity Welcome St. George's, which supports children living in a garbage village in Cairo. The charity supplies educational equipment, facilitates health and well-being and runs a yearly summer camp to build children’s confidence, teach them English and promote team work. Nicola is hoping to find as many people as possible to donate £5 per month to help the charity continue supporting these children.

Warwick LINKS Olympic Torch Fundraiser
St John Ambulance University of Warwick LINKS invite you to have your photo taken with an official London 2012 Olympic Torch. The group will be on the Piazza outside the Students' Union on Friday 25 May from 11am to 5pm.
If you make a donation to St John Ambulance you will be able to either take your own photo of you with the Olympic Torch, or have your photo taken by the organisers. Everyone is welcome and there will be a BBQ serving from 11am - 3pm (weather permitting).
Golf day for Warwick in Africa
A Charity Golf Day is being held at Feldon Valley Golf Club on Saturday 16 June to support the Warwick in Africa initiative, run by the University. Warwick in Africa supports learners, gifted learners and their teachers in maths and English by training undergraduate students, postgraduate and experienced teachers to work alongside local teachers.
Edinburgh Marathon run for Oxfam
WBS students Matteo Bartoli and Tsidi Dagadu are running the Edinburgh Marathon in May 2012, with the aim of raising over £1,100 for aid and development charity Oxfam. They are very passionate about Oxfam's work and are aiming to finish the marathon in under 4 hours.
