Personal Safety on Campus
Warwick is generally a safe campus. Nethertheless student, staff and visitor safety on campus is taken very seriously. Security measures include:
- Publication of Personal Safety Guidelines.
- Creation of an emergency telephone system: all the existing barrier telephones have been adapted to allow emergency phone calls and further five dedicated emergency telephone pillars will be installed in the lake area, the footpath to Gibbet Hill and the footpath from Radcliffe House to the Heronbank and Lakeside residences.
- A review of all footpaths ensuring adequate lighting, foliage control and CCTV coverage.
- An increase in the police presence on campus.
- A shuttle bus is provided by Ancillary Services
- The bus operates 7 days a week
- Between 18:00 and 02:00 in the Autumn and Winter terms
- Between 18:00 and 24:00 in the Autumn and Winter vacations
- Between 20:00 and 2:00 in the Summer term
- Between 20:00 and 24:00 in the Summer vacation
- Security patrols residences and where personal possessions are at risk individual students are advised and the necessary steps are taken.
- Cycle storage areas are visited and any cycle inadequately protected will be tagged - a 'D' lock is the only effective device.
- When necessary crime prevention advice will be given to individuals by patrolling security staff.
- Increased profile of Campus Security Officers - footpaths are subject to extra patrols.
- Additional CCT/V cameras have been installed in the Tocil, Heronbank, Lakeside and Radcliffe House areas and existing cameras in other areas have been upgraded - particularly in the Claycroft area.
