Lord Rootes Memorial Fund

Lord Rootes

Apply for Funding

First check the Fund Regulations to ensure you are eligible.

How to apply

You must submit all of the following to the Fund Secretary by the application deadline, Midday on the 12th January 2012:

  • application form, download in Word (Word Document) or PDF(PDF Document) format;
  • project proposal, including a full financial plan, of no more than six A4 sides;
  • reference from an academic member of University staff (e.g. personal tutor). This should be sent directly to the Fund Secretary by the deadline as above.

You may wish to look at an (PDF Document) example of a previous successful application. This is an example only and should not be used as a definitive guide. Each year a broad range of proposals are funded and applications are judged against each other - an application that succeeds in one year may not have been successful in other years.

The application process

The Lord Rootes Memorial Fund Committee will consider the applications and identify candidates they wish to interview.

Interviews will be held with members of the Committee at a date in February 2012 to be confirmed in the Autumn term 2011-12.

The full Committee will meet to make final decisions on which projects to fund in early March 2012 and applicants will be notified the following day.

Successful award holders will receive 80% of their funding, usually in April. The remaining 20% will be withheld until March 2013 and will be paid only if the Committee are satisfied with the project report, which must be submitted in November 2012.

The deadline for applications for awards in 2011/12 is Midday on the 12th January 2012.
