Warwick Economics Summit 2012 will take place from 17 February until 19 February. Tickets for the student-run international forum are now available for the general public.

The aim of Warwick Economics Summit – now in its eleventh year – is to provide attendees with a platform to exchange knowledge, think creatively and debate current issues in a thought-provoking and engaging environment.

The Summit’s issues go far beyond economics-based topics, as it encompasses the broader spheres of the social sciences, including development, politics, psychology and international relations. It is this wide scope and diversity that sets the Summit apart from other events, ensuring that it remains relevant and in tune with today’s wider issues.

Warwick Economics Summit is one of the largest student-run academic conferences of its kind in Europe and is a sell out success every year. The programme for next year is already shaping up as a must-see event for all. Currently confirmed are:

Professor George Akerlof – 2001 Nobel Laureate in Economics Sciences

Dr. Adam Posen – Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee member and senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics.

Professor Steven Landsburg – Author of The Armchair Economist and Professor of Economics at The University of Rochester, New York.

Professor Sascha Becker – Department of Economics, University of Warwick

John O'Sullivan - Britain Economics Editor, The Economist

Paul Ormerod – Director of Volterra Consulting.

Rt. Hon David Willets MP – Minister of State for Universities and Science.

Baroness Vadera – British Investment Banker and former Government Minister

Charles Seaford – Head of the Centre for Well Being at the New Economics Foundation

Dr. Johannes Abeler – Lecturer, University of Oxford

In its previous incarnations, the Summit has welcomed such distinguished speakers as Professor John F. Nash Jr (Nobel Laureate 1994), Alistair Darling (former Chancellor of the Exchequer of HM Treasury), John Kay (leading UK economist and Financial Times Columnist), Johannes Linn (former World Bank Vice President), Dr. Kandeh Yumkella (Director General of UNIDO), Ewald Nowotny (Governor of the Austrian Central Bank) and David Daly (Director of Nike Football Club Business).
