New careers on offer for supermarket shoppers in Coventry

Shoppers in Coventry will be able to pick up a pathway to a new career with their weekly groceries at two supermarkets in the City this weekend.

The University of Warwick’s Centre for Lifelong Learning will be on site at Tesco Walsgrave and Morrisons Binley on Saturday (6) to encourage people to come along to a Career Change event.

Shoppers can register for the Career Change event which will take place on June 22 from 5pm until 8pm at the University of Warwick campus. The event is for anyone who has been made redundant, is facing redundancy, returning to work or simply considering doing something different with their career.

The Centre has a range of courses on offer to help people work in social care, be a school teacher, FE lecturer, youth worker or counsellor.

Kay McEvoy from the University of Warwick’s Centre for Lifelong Learning said: “It is such a difficult time in the job market and people who never imagined they would lose their jobs are being made redundant.

“The Career Change event will be a one-stop shop for anyone who is considering a change of career. We want people to come along and find out what other careers are on offer, whether they have any formal qualifications or not.”

To register for the event on June 22, go along to Tesco Walsgrave or Morrisons Binley on Saturday 6 June or visit http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/study/cll/careerchange/.
