Triple table success - Warwick ranked as one of the top 100 universities in the world in third table

Koan and Warwick Arts CentreThe new Shanghai Jiao Tong Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), published on Saturday August 15th 2015, ranks the University of Warwick among the top 100 universities in the world. Warwick is now ranked 92nd in the world in that table, a jump of 96 places on the previous year’s ranking. The Ranking also declares Warwick to be 13th in the world for Mathematics and 34th for Economics and Business.

Warwick’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Nigel Thrift said:

“This has been a year filled with stunning international ranking results for the University of Warwick and it is particularly fitting that this come in the year we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of our University. In the last year Warwick has been ranked as one of the world’s top 100 universities in the world in three tables: the QS annual World University Rankings, the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings, and now the Shanghai Jiao Tong. We were also declared University of Year by the UK’s The Times and Sunday Times newspapers.”

The Shanghai Jiao Tong Academic Ranking has a particular focus on science (20% of the table’s calculation alone is based on papers published in the journals Nature and Science). This makes the University of Warwick’s achievement in being ranked in the top 100 even more noteworthy as Warwick is a University that teaches and researches across a full range of disciplines; arts, social sciences, and science and medicine and yet still has been ranked above many other more science dominated intuitions in the table, who would have expected to perform better in a science focused table.
