Warwick is one of the UK's leading research universities.  We have an international reputation for first class research in the humanities, sciences, social sciences and medicine.  All our academic staff are active researchers, working in departments or in the specialised interdisciplinary research centres that have long been a feature of the University.

In the last Research Assessment Exercise (2001) - the periodic UK-wide review that enables the higher education funding bodies to distribute on the basis of research quality public funds for research - Warwick was ranked fifth in the UK for research quality.  25 out of its 26 academic departments, involving over 91% of its staff, gained the highest ratings of 5 or above, denoting research of international excellence.

At Warwick you will study in an environment where knowledge is constantly being created rather than just described.  Master's courses are designed and taught by staff working at the forefront of their subjects; all include a substantial research component, requiring you to plan and manage an original project.  If you are thinking of embarking on a doctorate or research Master's you will find a dynamic research environment in which to work, for at Warwick postgraduate students are considered to be an integral and valuable part of the research community.
