About Us

At Warwick we have one of the largest postgraduate communities in the UK, comprising over two-fifths of our 23,000 students. With ten of our subjects ranked amongst the World’s top 50 (QS World Rankings, 2015) we offer all our Master’s students an outstanding, research-led learning environment. If you’re studying for a PhD then we offer over 300 scholarships, with students applying to study either in Doctoral Training Centres with their rich interdisciplinary training opportunities, or individual departments with their greater focus on disciplinary training.

Why Warwick?

As a Postgraduate, your life at Warwick is distinguished, first, by academic excellence: For over two decades now Warwick has consistently been ranked amongst the UK’s top 10 universities by research excellence, distinguished by world-leading expertise across all of our subjects. Second, with around 60% of our postgraduate students coming from other European countries or further afield, our community is truly cosmopolitan and international.

Third, our students form close communities within their departments, across disciplines, and across campus in our dedicated postgraduate spaces. Finally, Warwick provides a unique context for your wellbeing. We have a dedicated team to grow the postgraduate community and enhance your experience, helping you to make the most of your time at Warwick. You’ll have unique opportunities to enjoy the Warwick Arts Centre with your friends, take part in international celebrations and seasonal parties, enter competitions, and contribute to speed networking and discussion fora.

Warwick Graduate School

The Graduate School is here for you. We were one of the first Graduate Schools to be established in the UK, and have two key functions. Firstly, we ensure that regulations and standards around Warwick postgraduate degrees are maintained. For instance, we monitor student progress on PhD theses, and it scrutinises all new postgraduate programmes before they are approved by the Board of Graduate Studies.

Our second function lies in the facilitation and co-ordination of central services serving the needs of postgraduate students, to ensure that students are supported not only in departments, but across the entire university. Over the past few years, we’ve worked to develop a Professional Development Framework for PhD students , works closely with departments such as the Library and the Students’ Union to enhance community, and improves space provision for postgraduate students.

Finally, we work to ensure that the University meets your needs. We listen to and act upon the feedback that comes from you through Staff-Student Liaison Committees, through surveys such as the Postgraduate Taught and Postgraduate Research Experience Surveys, and most importantly through meeting you face-to-face whether it’s through our Postgraduate Lunch series, one off celebrations such as our Postgraduate Summer Fete, or through regular events such as Research Refresh and PG Tips.
