OSF/Warwick Scholarships

Open Society Foundations/Warwick Scholarships (formerly East European Scholarships)

The Open Society Foundations (OSF) and the University of Warwick will jointly fund 8 scholarships for overseas students from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, and Mongolia wishing to study on a taught Master’s programme at the University of Warwick in 2012-13.

Each award normally provides for the payment of:

  • academic tuition fees including examination and dissertation costs;
  • a monthly stipend for living expenses sufficient for a single student;
  • a return airfare to the student’s home country (economy class);

Eligible Courses

Only the courses below are available for support for these scholarships.

MA Creative and Media Enterprises, Centre for Cultural Policy Studies

MA Global Media and Communication, Centre for Cultural Policy Studies

MA International Cultural Policy and Management, Centre for Cultural Policy Studies

MA Gender and International Development, Department of Sociology

MA Social Research, Department of Sociology

LLM International Development Law and Human Rights, School of Law


Student Eligibility

Applicants must:

a) Be nationals of, and resident in one of the selected countries during the academic year in which they apply for the award.

b) Display intellectual ability and leadership potential;

c) already hold (or expect to hold by the time of taking up the award) a degree of an equivalent standard to a good UK second-class Honours degree;

d) Have passed an appropriate English language test by the time of taking up the award. The University would expect candidates to have normally achieved at the time of taking up the award a score of TOEFL 600 (Paper based), TOEFL 250 (Computer based), TOEFL (Internet based 92) or IELTS 6.5;

e) Return to their home country at the end of their scholarship period to continue their studies /work there.

Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously studied outside of their home country.

Applicants apply directly through the OSF.

The competition for Open Society Foundation scholarships for 2012-13 entry has now CLOSED.

Please note applicants for this scholarship are not required to complete the standard online application form for postgraduate study at Warwick. However, all applicants will normally be required to meet the standard entry requirements for admission and the conditions of their course offer if an offer is made (unless a formal waiver is granted to remove a condition.)
