Santander Universites Scholarships

Santander Universities Masters Scholarships:

There are currently two competitions open for Santander-funded Masters Scholarships.

Santander 2012/13 Entry

The University enjoys a close relationship with Abbey Santander, resulting in generous support for students and staff across the institution. For more information please see the relevant WebPages (http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/rss/funding/external/santander)

For 2012/13 there will be a number of awards worth £5000 available. All applications for the Santander competition will be handled via an amalgamated postgraduate taught competition to include Santander, International Office, International Office Africa and AHRC Masters Awards.

 

Application Process

You must have applied for admission and hold an offer of a place to the University of Warwick for a Master's course in order to be nominated for an Santander Award. An offer of a place here does not guarantee funding.

To be eligible to be considered for an Santander Award you must hold an offer of admission from the University by the 30th of March latest.

Academic departments within the University will identify candidates that they wish to nominate for a scholarship based on course application forms. The department will lead on completing a form to send to the Graduate Office and may be in contact to let you know that you have been nominated and ask candidates to provide further information to support the nomination.

 

Scoring Guidelines

Applications nominated for a scholarship as part of the amaolgamated postgraduate taught competiton will be scored against the following criteria:

Applications are scored on a 1 to 5 scale, 5 being the best possible mark.

NB the relative weightings given to each area of the scoring criteria are:

  • Academic Record: 50%
  • Future career plans and relevance of qualification: 15%
  • Relevant professional and extra curricular experiences: 15%
  • Strength of nomination statement: 20%

 

Eligibility and guidelines

The Applicant must:

  • Originate from one of the Santander Partnership countries. These are Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Uruguay, Venezuela, Spain, UK, China, Russia and the USA.
  • Have a strong academic record, having been awarded either a 1st or high 2:1 in their Undergraduate Degree in the UK or an equivalent level of award from a overseas institution. Applicants with an existing UK postgraduate qualification will not be eligible.
  • Hold an offer of admission from the University by the 30th of March.
  • Applicant for a full-time Masters.

 

Successful Applicants:

  • Successful applicants will be informed at the beginning of May 2012. Awards will be made as a deduction of fees by Student Finance once the award holder is fully enrolled at the University.
