Assessment Conventions

Degree Examination Conventions

Different rules for combining module results into an overall degree classification apply to different groups of students, depending on whether you are an undergraduate or a postgraduate, and on when you first registered - that is, when you joined the course.

Progression Requirements (UG only)

Progression requirements at undergraduate level set out the number of credits which must be passed in order to proceed from one year of a degree programme to another.

Which conventions apply?

For the following groups of undergraduate students, the conventions to be applied are those which were in force as at the date the student first registered on the course:

  1. 2+2 students. i.e. the classification conventions in force as at the date the student commenced the first year of their course with the partner institution;
  2. Students who have temporarily withdrawn from an Honours degree;
  3. Students who withdraw from an Honours degree course and restart on the same course.

For students who withdraw from an Honours degree course and restart a different Honours degree, the conventions to apply are those in force as at the date the student first registered on the new Honours degree course.
