Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR)

From summer 2012 onwards, all final year undergraduate students will receive a Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) in place of the existing student transcript when they graduate.

What is the HEAR?

When the “Burgess” Group reported on its work considering the future of the Honours Degree, its central recommendation was the establishment of a standard document, the Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR). The intention is that this will be issued by all UK HEIs and will encompass the existing transcript and the European Diploma Supplement.

The HEAR aims to give undergraduate students a fuller record of their achievements whilst at university, for example by including information about volunteering and sporting achievement, positions held at the Students’ Union and prizes won as well as information about the Degree Classification awarded - currently captured in the transcript. It is hoped that this additional information will prove useful to both graduates entering the job market and to employers.

When will Warwick Students start receiving a HEAR?

A group of universities have already trialled the HEAR and Warwick has just signed up to the next stage of the trial. This means that final year undergraduate students will start receiving a HEAR from summer 2012. We expect that the HEAR will become a requirement for all Higher Education Institutions from summer 2013.

Further information

Whilst all final year undergraduate students will receive a HEAR in summer 2012, we are still in the early stages of the HEAR project and there are plans to phase in other elements over the coming years.

We will keep this page updated with any developments on the HEAR project.
