I’ve been working with Warwick Welcome Service now for 2 years and during the time I’ve been supporting the student recruitment and admissions office.
The higher education conferences have allowed me to experience how to communicate with younger children and also to encourage them to think about their futures. I’ve enjoyed the campus tours quite a lot and they’ve allowed me to develop my leadership skills and also my management, especially with time, getting people round the university and show them everything that’s important.
Communicating with prospective students is a very significant role. It allows them to put a friendly face behind everything they’ve been reading up about and it gives them a 1:1 person that they can ask those all important questions about what they’re likely to expect when they come to university. It’s a regular and meaningful job. Not only does it help me to have employment role while also studying it also allows me do something that I feel is also quite a good contribution to the university.
I think that I’ve gained a lot of confidence from working as a student ambassador and it ha made me mature quite a lot. It made me realize how much I’ve developed since I’ve been at university.
