1. What is the HEAR?

The HEAR or ‘Higher Education Achievement Report’ is a record of academic and non-academic achievements which have been verified by the University. Information about the HEAR is available on our HEAR webpages.

2. How does the HEAR differ from a transcript/CV?

The HEAR differs from the transcript in that it provides a comprehensive record of a student’s achievements whilst at university. As well as information about academic achievement (e.g. module marks and credits), it also includes more detailed information about the course of study and other activities undertaken (e.g. volunteering, Students' Union society positions, student representatives).

The HEAR is not a replacement for a student/graduate's CV. The HEAR is a factual record of a student's academic achievements and any additional activities verifiable by the University. CVs give students/graduates the opportunity to reflect on their achievements and also to add in other information that is not verified by the University, such as work experience.

3. Does the HEAR replace the Degree Certificate?

No. Graduates still receive their degree certificateLink opens in a new window at the point of graduation.

4. When will students/graduates receive a HEAR?

The Student Records team create Gradintel accounts for first years students after their first term and will generate HEARs after that. Once the Gradintel accounts have been created, a registration email will be sent that includes a Gradintel account activation link that is valid for 30 days. Please note that the agreed module marks and credits will not be displayed on the HEAR until the end of each academic year.

5. What format is the HEAR available in?

The HEAR is issued to students as a digitally signed electronic document. The University of Warwick is working with a company called GradIntelLink opens in a new window to provide this service.

6. What additional information will be included in the HEAR?

As well as providing a record of academic achievements, the HEAR also includes additional information about activities completed such as society positions, volunteering and departmental prizes. Here is an overview of information that is recorded on the HEAR including a list of approved activities and the criteria that must be met in order for them to appear.

'Audited' modules, not contributing to a student's degree credit but where a student has completed the module assessment(s), may be recorded in Section 6.1. (The department reserve the right, without prejudice, to decide whether or not to permit a student to audit a module.)

7. Why is the University of Warwick using GradIntel to issue the HEAR?

By using the GradIntel service, the University can provide graduates with a digitally signed electronic HEAR. We envisage that providing the document in this format will have benefits for both graduates and employers:

- Graduates will be able to securely share their HEAR with employers or other Higher Education institutions by sending them a ‘token’ to grant access to view their HEAR;

- Graduates can share the document securely with as many employers or other Higher Education institutions as they want without having to request additional copies;

- Because the document is electronically verified, employers/institutions will not need to contact the University for further verification.

8. Which students/graduates are eligible to receive a HEAR?

All current undergraduate students (e.g. BA, BSc, BEng courses) will receive a HEAR.

Please note that the following groups of students will not currently receive a HEAR:

- Medical students (e.g. MB ChBLink opens in a new window courses)

- Postgraduates (e.g. MSc, MA, MRes, MPhil, PhD courses)

9. How is the HEAR accessed?

To access the HEAR, students will first need to activate their Gradintel account by clicking on the activation link provided on their registration email. Please note that students do not need to create a Gradintel account as the Student Records team will create their Gradintel account during their first year. Once registered, they will be able to view the HEAR and share with employers or institutions of their choosing.

10. I'm having issues with logging into the Gradintel site.

Please note that both the password and username fields are case sensitive. If the issue persists, please contact customerservices@gradintel.com

11. I've forgotten my Gradintel account username/password.

Follow the Gradintel Account Recovery instructions. If the issue persists, please contact customerservices@gradintel.com

12. Sharing HEAR with an employer or another university?

The GradIntel website gives students the option to share their HEAR with employers/institutions of their choosing by sending an electronic token which enables them to view the HEAR. Details about how to do this are available on the GradIntel website.

13. An employer/university has requested a printed transcript – will a printed copy of my HEAR be sufficient?

The HEAR is only officially verified in its digital form. Employers may, however, choose to look at this version and then print or save a copy for their records.

14. Do employers need to contact the University to verify that the information stated on my HEAR is correct?

Because the HEAR is digitally signed, we do not envisage that employers or other third parties would wish to contact the University for verification. Please note that the verified version of the HEAR is the electronic document. Paper copies are for reference only.

15. The information about my module marks/degree classification is incorrect.

The module marks and degree classification that appear on a HEAR have been officially confirmed by the University. If you still have queries relating to module marks or degree classification, please contact aotranscripts@warwick.ac.uk .

16. The information displayed about my additional activities (section 6.1) is incorrect.

Please visit the HEAR webpages first to see if the activity that you have taken part in has been included in the HEAR this year. In addition, you will also need to have met the criteria for inclusion of a certain item in the HEAR. Incorporating all additional activities completed during an academic year is a complex process and will not be uploaded to the HEAR until the end of that academic year in August.

If you still have queries relating to additional activities and prizes after this date, please contact quality@warwick.ac.uk .
