Allin Braund

Born 1915, Northam, Near Bideford, Devon.  Died 2004.

Allin Braund studied at Bideford School of Art from 1932-36, then Hornsey School of Art from 1936-39. He subsequently lectured at Hornsey College of Art and then at Middlesex Polytechnic. He exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1954 and at the Redfern and Zwemmer Galleries. He showed at the Zwernmer Gallery with the New Editions Group, which included Bawden, Piper, Richards and Rothenstein from August 1957 ‑ January 1958. The sea and water were constant themes in his work, reflecting the coastal environment of his childhood.

Allin Braund spent his last years back in North Devon where he exhibited annually with the Bideford and Westward Ho! Society of Artists at the Burton Art Gallery in Bideford.
