The Department of Comparative American Studies commissioned this work from Williams and the image has been used on departmental publications. The image was composed from Arawak totemic symbols and depicts the snake of learning chasing the frog of wisdom, superimposed upon the sunsign, which is the giver of life. The symbol of the river portrays the idea of harmony and water is seen as the maintainer of life.
