Important externally imposed obligations
require the University to achieve a reduction in single car journeys to campus and to support increased use of alternative modes of transport. This is not only to reduce congestion but also to contribute to environmental sustainability.
Before bringing your car onto campus, please consider whether you could manage without it for some of the time, at least. There may be certain times of the week, term or year when you can use alternative means of transport. Changing our habits can really make a difference. You may wish to consider:
- Public transport
- full details of fares, travel discounts, passes and timetables.
- Transport Direct
- Nationwide public transport and car journey planning information including timetables, traffic information, maps, instructions and travel news.
- Cycling
- to help you keep fit and stay healthy find out more about cycling to and around campus.
- Warwick Student Carshare Scheme, 'Take-a-Mate'
, exclusively for Warwick students, share your journeys, cut emissions and save money.
- Pay and display - remember, if you only need your car for up to 4 hours in the day (Monday to Friday), you will only pay £1.50 in 2011/12. Parking after 18:00, at weekends and on Bank Holidays is free (please note: after midnight visitor only overnight parking charges apply and you must apply for a visitor overnight parking permit
).
- Monthly Scratch Cards allowing up to 12 full days parking during the calendar month. Find out more...
Student Essential Users
It is recognised that there will be some students who have no alternative to using their car. If you are an infrequent user of your car, please use the pay-and-display facilities on campus. In 2011/12, a limited number of parking certificates will be available for students who qualify as an Essential User.
Please note: all permits and parking certificates (Staff, Student Essential Users and those issued on welfare, medical or disability grounds) must be reapplied for in 2011/2012. Permits and certificates will not automatically renew.
Postgraduate research students
Postgraduate research students who have no alternative to using their car can apply for a parking permit via this page.
