Campus police officer

PC Mick ParkesI am Mick Parkes. The dedicated police constable for the campus. I have been a police officer for 24 years and covered a variety of uniformed and non uniformed posts. My primary role at the university is to be a visible presence, provide crime prevention advice and to assist security with any issues that may arise. I also help with incidents involving students off campus. In the rare case that behaviour falls below the accepted standards of university life I usually find that the right words of advice normally resolve most situations to the satisfaction of those involved. If you have anything that you think I may be able to help with please contact me at the addresses given below. This is an invite to students and staff.

Cycle Registration

Cycle registration is a means of recording the ownership of a cycle so that in the event of theft or loss, it can be returned to the owner if it is recovered. It is very simple to be registered, all that is required is your name, address, make, model and colour of the bike, and most importantly the serial number which can be found under the crank shaft (under the pedal casing). You can register online at the same time as joining the University Bicycle User Group. These details are then entered onto a secure database that allow police and security to check the owner details of a cycle 24/7. This is the same system used for vehicle registration but free. The scheme is open to students, staff and family members.
