How do I book a place on a Careers event?

Student Careers & Skills runs a variety of events to help you in your career planning:

  • Careers sessions - Run by our Careers Consultants, these interactive sessions will help you with every aspect of career planning from getting started to going for interviews.  We also hold sessions on a variety of occupations led by speakers who are working in the job.
  • Careers Focus On... - We are holding Careers Focus On,,, programmes which cover specific areas of interest and include targeted events.
  • Employer presentations - Employers visit campus to present their company and talk about career opportunities.
  • Speed careers events - work in a similar style to speed dating but within a group and without dates! There will be about 80 students attending and 10 organisations, each representing a different market sector. You are placed in 1 of about 10 groups with 8 other students and you rotate around the different market sectors asking questions in order to get a flavour of the type of career each sector offers.
  • Careers fairs - Come and meet employers in person and find out about the opportunities they have for you. There are five fairs on campus and we publicise others that may be of interest to you. Careers fairs are an excellent way to find out about work opportunities talk to recent graduates about what life in that organisation is like.

For a list of events coming up, log-in to My Careers for full details or see the Events Calendar  for more information.

Booking for and attending events

Please note that all events organised by the Centre for Student Careers & Skills are for University of Warwick students and staff only, and therefore access to careers events on campus will be restricted.

To attend a careers fair or a drop-in session, just come along on the day with your University card - no pre-registration is needed.

To attend any other event, sign up online in advance through My Careers using your University login.

Signing up for an event is a commitment to attend, and you should only book a place if you are sure you will attend the event. Failing to attend an event for which you have booked a place is not acceptable, as it prevents other students from benefitting and jeopardises Warwick's reputation with employers and other outside organisations who generously give their time to help Warwick students. If you fail to attend and do not cancel your place or let us know the reason for non-attendance, you may be prevented from booking onto any other sessions for the rest of the term.

If for any reason you cannot attend an event you are booked onto, please log in to My Careers and cancel your booking or contact us directly, to allow others to attend in your place.

Make a note of which event you have booked onto, when and where, at the time of making the booking.
