Options for Italian students

Graduates from the Department of Italian enter a wide range of jobs: management training, marketing, advertising, public relations, accountancy, sales and finance. Some are employed in pan-European organisations, both in the UK and Italy, where their language and intercultural skills are valued. Other Italian graduates were working in the education field teaching Italian, or as language assistants teaching English in Italy or in other parts of the world. One graduate was working for a translation company, another as a fraud investigator.

Some graduates were working in a temporary capacity in administration and customer service to increase their level of experience or generate income in order to undertake further study. Others went directly into further academic study or were working towards professional qualifications in law, teaching, translation, speech & hearing therapy, and public policy.

As an Italian student your skills include

  • gather information, translate, analyse & interpret it

  • organise workload and work to deadlines
  • develop opinions and propose ideas
  • adapt to new situations and cultures.
