Liberal Arts (2022).
Why did you choose that particular degree course?
Liberal arts gave me the breath of knowledge and the ability to explore different fields of study while combining my passions for the environment, literature and history.
Tell us about your employer
Humatica is a specialist consultancy focused on enhancing the organisational performance and value of private equity-backed portfolio companies. We provide Private Equity sponsors with fact-based transparency on how their target/portfolio company operates, their organisational bottlenecks and effective actions to deliver on their value creation plan.
What was the position you were recruited for. Please briefly outline the position you were recruited to within your organisation and summarise the business needs and role you fulfil
I started as an intern and now I am a full time analyst. I got to work directly with partners from day one and build on my quantitative skills while keeping the curiosity and breadth intellectual interests that I started maturing during my time at warwick
What attracted you to this position?
The size of the company and the culture: I knew I would be supported from day one and my learing curve would have been much steeper compared to other places
What are the key skills you learnt at Warwick that have helped you with your career to date?
The ability to communicate effectively and problem solve. Despite having a qualitative background, leaping into the quantitative aspect of the job was eased by the transferrable skills I learnt in Liberal Arts.
What has been your greatest career challenge to date and how did your experience and skills help overcome it?
I had no knowledge of excel nor of Power BI, essential tools for my job, and I was staffed on a project that was heavily driven by these tools. I used my discipline and independent learning to catch up and communicated my needs clearly when I needed more time to catch up. I can say that other than improving in these tangible skills I am now able to ask for help when needed and I am not scared of venuting into unknown disciplines or skills, which was one of the integral parts of my course at Warwick.
What top tips would you give to students looking for a career in your market sector?
Be flexible. Explore things which you don't think you know enough of, take the leap, learn and absorb as much as you can. Your job should be as enriching for you as your contributions are to the company.
What do you know now that you wish you had known when you were applying for jobs?
To have more self confidence: not having a quantitative background does not put you at a disadvantage if you know how to leverage your unique skills.

I will be sadly leaving Humatica soon to change once again of career path and do a PhD at Harvard. Stay intellectually flexible and curious!!
