We welcome Ms Jannet Mudavanhu who will be available in the Chaplaincy on Wednesday afternoons, to help with the Chaplaicy weekly Soup Lunch and to offer Pastoral Support during Term 2 whilst Stuart Jennings is on sabbatical. She says "I am from Zimbabwe, but have been in Birmingham for a number of years conducting my doctoral research which I completed just over a year ago. I have worked in a variety of pastoral settings with the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe including ministries amongst young people and mission schools, working in both urban and rural environments. I have a passionate interest in practical theology which led me to explore the African concept of sexuality in an attempt to highlight some of the issues at stake in regards to the attitude of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe to homosexuality. This is an area of research which has been very interesting, but also highly provocative. The whole academic journey together with my pastoral experiences have tremendously influenced my own Christian perspectives on different levels. I currently attend Acocks Green Methodist Church in Birmingham, but I am really interested in exploring chaplaincy work both in university and health-care contexts and so it is a really good opportunity for me to come to Warwick on Mondays during this term to meet students from all sorts of backgrounds and cultures. I will be pleased to meet you all in the Chaplaincy on Mondays during soup lunches; please stop by and have a chat".
