The Sutherland Staff Lounge in the Rootes Building opened in December 2002. The lounge is an important venue for staff at Warwick and has proved to be a popular place for staff from a variety of departments to meet and interact. Staff clubs and societies are also welcome to book the space for evening events. Opening hours are Monday - Friday 08.30 - 23.00.

In autumn 2009, the Sutherland was completely redecorated. A selection of artwork from the Mead Gallery is displayed on the walls and there is a selection of newspapers and magazines, as well as sofas and a TV with digital channels. Any Warwick Authors willing to donate copies of their books or published articles are invited to email internalcomms@warwick.ac.uk
