Changes to car park 2

The number of coaches coming to campus for major events has grown a great deal over recent years. To support the development of our campus community and encourage sustainable transport to and from events, car park 2 (next to the Bluebell roundabout) will be used as a coach park from 3 October 2016 onwards. Work will be carried out in the autumn term to fully implement the changes.

Before that, it will support the Open Day on Saturday 24 September and the student arrivals in the week after that. As a result, it will not be available for cars (excluding the Residential Life Team and service vehicles) from the evening of Friday 23 September.

Spaces

In anticipation of losing some parking spaces when converting car park 2 to a coach park we have added spaces elsewhere this summer, extending car parks 9 (Physics) and 16 (University House) and providing a new car park on Westwood campus, all of which are due to open for the start of term. Later in the autumn term, our new, 600+ space multi-storey car park will also open.

Location

If you’ve been a regular user of car park 2, there are several alternatives for you to consider:

  • Car park 3 (Cryfield) has parking for both permit holders and pay and display users.
  • Car park 6 (Health Centre) has parking for permit holders.
  • If you’re based on Gibbet Hill campus, we plan to upgrade the surface of the car park extension there to make sure it’s available through the winter.
  • The campus shuttlebus routes have been improved, providing much better cover of campus. Car parks 12 and 16 (both near University House) are close to an A route stop which goes all the way to Gibbet Hill via the Bus Interchange every 25 minutes.

Flexi-Pay Scratch Cards

For your convenience, we offer Flexi-pay car parking scratch cards at Senate House reception in books of 10. You can use these in all pay and display car parks on campus excluding the multi-storey at Gibbet Hill. For more information, see our Pay and Display page.
