Women's Tour: Impact on bus services

The OVO Women’s Cycle Tour will take place on Friday 9 June 2017, as many of you will already be aware. We’ve been in contact with local bus service providers to clarify the arrangements for the day.

The Parade in Leamington will be closed for most of the day, meaning bus diversions will be put in place as detailed below. Stagecoach have confirmed that they will have staff near the top and bottom of the Parade to assist and direct bus passengers who have difficulty finding the temporary stops.

Please make sure you set off earlier than you would usually – there will be delays to all travel while the race is in progress as it will affect roads all over the local region.

Changes to services

We expect the services to be affected as follows:

National Express 11

Until 6pm this service will follow its normal route from Coventry, through campus to Leamington, but will stop at the end of Kenilworth Road in Leamington (just before the top of the Parade) and won’t go any further.

Services between Coventry and campus will be unaffected except between 10:30 an 11:30am. During this time the 11 service will not stop anywhere on campus, including Kirby Corner Road, instead diverting down the A45 and A46 from Coventry to Leamington. To catch the 11 from Leamington to campus, your stop is at the end of Kenilworth Road (just after the top of the Parade).

The 11 between Leamington and campus, between 10:30 and 11:30 will not serve Kenilworth or campus, instead using the A46 and A45 from Leamington to Coventry.

National Express 11U

The 11U service is affected between 10:30 and 11:30am. During this time, this service will stop at Cannon Park instead of coming through campus.

National Express 12X

The 12X service is affected between 10:30 and 11:30am. During this time, this service will stop at Cannon Park instead of coming through campus.

Stagecoach U1

All U1 services heading towards campus will operate as normal from Sydenham and Brunswick Street, but will be diverted around the closed Parade.

This diversion will run along Tachbrook Road/Bath Street, turn left onto Avenue Road and collect from a temporary stop near the Old Library. From there it will continue up Adelaide Road (collecting from all stops), turn right onto Clarendon Avenue and resume the normal route at Kenilworth Road.

If you usually get the bus from the bottom of the Parade near the Parish Church, Stagecoach recommend that you board the service at the temporary stop on Avenue Road, near the Old Library.

If you usually get the bus from the top of the Parade, Stagecoach recommend that you board the bus at the end of Kenilworth Road (just after the top of the Parade).
