Briefing and Information Session for Members of the Senate and its Committees

All members of the Senate and the following Senate committees (AQSC, BUGS, BGS, CFDLSC, Faculty Boards and Faculty Sub-Committees, HEFP Board, Appeals committees and panels, Fitness to Practice panel and committee, complaints committees, CASCS, Investigating Committees and the Aegrotat Committee) are invited to attend a briefing and information event which will be held from 12 noon until 2pm on Wednesday 1st October 2015 in the Council Chamber, Senate House.

The aim of the event is to provide a brief overview of the University’s governance and committee structures and decision-making processes, informed by discussion of the University’s overarching academic objectives for 2015-16 and information on the pursuit of its teaching and learning agenda over the forthcoming year. The event is intended to equip incoming members of Senate committee with a better understanding of the role and scope of the particular body on which they serve within the wider institutional context.

A buffet lunch will be available in the foyer outside the Council Chamber, Senate House from 12 noon for everyone registered for the event. The briefing will be introduced by the Vice-Chancellor and presentations will be given as set out below. We hope that the sessions will be interactive with plenty of opportunity for Q&A depending on participants’ needs.
