    We're Flexible

    • Flexible Working
The University aims to promote work life balance for all employees which is why the University has produced guidance on flexible working including informal/formal requests and the options available. Flexible working options include: unpaid leave, reduced hours, seasonal hours (term time only working), staggered hours, flexitime, job share, compressed hours and home working.
    • Excellent Annual Leave
The University's leave year runs from 1st October to 30th September. During this time employees are entitled to annual leave in excess of statutory requirements.
    • Buying Additional Annual Leave
The University is committed to supporting employees to achieve a healthy balance between their work and personal lives, in the best interests of the University and the well-being of individual employees. The option of buying additional annual leave builds on existing provision for a variety of leaves (maternity, adoption, paternity, parental) and career breaks which are available to employees. An employee may request to have a maximum of ten days additional annual leave (pro-rata for part time employees) in any leave year. For more information, please view the Buying Additional Annual Leave Guidelines(PDF Document)
    • Career Break Scheme
The University has developed a Career Break Scheme to enable employees to take extended periods of unpaid time away from work and to help employees strike a balance between paid work and personal life. Career breaks could be taken for a variety of reasons including study, travel, childcare responsibilities, eldercare responsibilities, to pursue a personal interest or simply to have a break from paid employment. A career break is a period of leave which is unpaid. Employees are able to take a break of between three months to one year duration. The actual period of the break will be subject to agreement between the University and the individual. For more information please view the Career Break Policy
