    • Compassionate Leave
    Compassionate leave is available to all employees (part time staff on a pro rated basis). Heads of Departments may grant compassionate leave to their members of staff when there appear to be urgent and adequate grounds for doing so for up to 7 working days in any one calendar year.
    • University Sick Pay
    All members of staff are entitled to sick pay subject to the terms of the scheme - the extent of which depends on the employee's category of staff and their length of service.
    • Parental Leave
    Parental Leave is offered by the University to give employees the right to take unpaid time off work to look after a child (aged under 5 or under 18 in the case of a child with a disability) or make arrangements for the child's welfare. It is intended to cover matters which can be foreseen.
    • Equality and Diversity Policies and Contacts
    The University is committed to ensuring there is equality of opportunity for all, fostered in an environment of mutual respect and dignity. It has a number of equality and diversity policies, contacts and representatives.
    • Time off for dependents
    Time off for dependents is offered by the University to give employees the right to take a reasonable period of unpaid time off work to deal with a sudden problem or emergency involving a dependent.
    • Visitors and Newcomers Group
    The Visitors and Newcomers Group provides an informal meeting place for both newly arrived and established wives, husbands and partners of Visiting Academics, Academic and Research Staff of the University who would like to form new friendships and find out about the University and the surrounding area.
    • Pre-retirement and Other Pension Sessions
    Pre-retirement Session - Annual Pre-retirement seminars are held for UPS and USS members to help staff to plan their retirement. In addition to presentations on the main scheme benefits and Additional Voluntary Contributions the seminars also include presentations on state benefits, health in retirement and personal financial planning.
    Additional Voluntary Contribution One to One Sessions - Free one to one sessions with a consultant to explain the USS and UPS AVC options.
    From March 2009 USS Member Session - An annual presentation from USS Ltd describing the key features of the Scheme, this session is open to all staff who are eligible for USS membership.
    • Counselling
    The University Counselling Service (UCS) offers a professional therapeutic counselling service to all members of staff at the University of Warwick. The service is available to all grades of staff and no fee is charged.
    • Helplines

    There are a range of helplines available that can support both staff and students. More information can be viewed at the Counselling Services website.
