English Language Requirements
THE CENTRE FOR APPLIED LINGUISTICS
For students who need to improve their English language skills, the University's Centre for Applied Linguistics provides a range of pre-sessional (before your degree begins) and in-sessional (during your degree) courses.
Pre-sessional English language course
Students who have been offered a place at Warwick may benefit from the pre-sessional English language course which can be taken for 5 or 10 weeks during the summer. The course focuses on English for academic purposes and also helps students to adjust to life in Britain.
More information on this course is available here.
Pre-Requisite English Programme (PREP)
The intensive course in English is for students who intend to study at postgraduate level either at Warwick or at another British University. The course runs from October to June, following the three terms of the academic year. Although most students attend for 9 months, they may also be accepted for 3 months (starting in April) or 6 months (starting in January). The course aims primarily to increase students' ability to use the English language for academic and social purposes, but in addition students are introduced to aspects of British life and culture, and prepared for work in their specific subject field.

In-sessional support
The Centre for Applied Linguistics also offers free classes during term-time which focus on specific English language skills for academic purposes, and which aim to further develop and maintain students' English language ability.
