UKVI visa application centres in India will be moving to new locations and refurbished in March
The Government has renewed the immigration concession for Syrian nationals for another year, until 28 February 2015. This concession gives greater flexibility to Syrian nationals who are in the UK on a visa, by offering them more ways to extend their stay in the UK.

The Immigration Rules change from 31 December 2013 so that people in many additional countries will have to obtain a certificate confirming they do not have infectious pulmonary tuberculosis before they make their immigration application to come to the UK. It depends on where the application is made, not the applicant's nationality. This does not apply to visitors including student visitors who apply to come for six months or less.
The full list of affected countries is in the Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules [^]. Some of the changes that will have the greatest impact on students are:
- All applicants, and not just those applying for settlement, in China, Hong Kong and Macau must obtain a certificate
- Nigeria, the Russian Federation and Ukraine have been added to the list
The Immigration Rules allow these changes to affect entry clearance applications that are decided on or after 31 December 2013, even if the application is submitted before that date. However, the Home Office appear to be operating a concession with the result that only applications made on or after this date will be affected. If you are concerned about a pending application we recommend asking the Entry Clearance Post if they will be operating this concession.
Amendment: On 18 December 2013 a further Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules was published, removing Algeria and Ukraine from the list of countries that require TB screening "due to logistical challenges in providing screening."
