Power failure incident

All services have now been restored to normal operation.

25 April 2007 - 16:00

QuizBuilder has now been returned to normal service.  We expect that site statistics for SiteBuilder web pages will be available again by the end of tomorrow (Thurs 26th April).

All services are now operating as normal, with the exception of QuizBuilder and site statistics for SiteBuilder web pages. We cannot yet give a firm indication of when these last two services will be returned to service, but will provide an update tomorrow on progress.

Warwick Forums has now been returned to service. Printer credits can now be accessed through my.insite again. Only QuizBuilder and site statistics for SiteBuilder web pages are still affected, and work continues to recover these as quickly as possible.

All web services except Warwick Forums, QuizBuilder and site statistics are now working. Printer credits can be accessed at http://printcredits.warwick.ac.uk; access through my.insite is not possible at present, but will return later. Work continues to restore these remaining services.

In addition to Warwick Forums, some other web services are also affected. These include the printer credits purchase page, 'go' redirects and some SiteBuilder features including FormsBuilder, QuizBuilder, some news/calendar pages and site statistics. We are working to recover these as quickly as possible.

Warwick Forums has not yet been restored. We are currently working to return this service to normal operation.

An engineer is expected onsite at University House at around noon and work will take place this afternoon to determine why the UPS failed.

We now believe all services have returned to normal operation following the power failure.  If you are still experiencing problems then please contact the Helpdesk on 73737.

Three very short power cuts occurred last night at 02:00, 03:00 and 04:00.

During one of the power cuts the UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) in the University House IT Machine Room failed. Estates regularly test all UPS systems on campus and did not foresee any failure.

The power loss to the Machine Room has affected systems including the University's Telecommunications, Voicemail and Exchange Email. It also affected network access for users within University House.

All systems were reset this morning and systems should now be coming back online. Estates and IT Services will be working to determine the reason for the UPS failure and to maintain IT systems.

24 April 2007 - 8:00

We are at present experiencing major problems with many central IT services on campus. These are as a result of multiple power failures that affected the campus overnight. Many IT services are affected, including telephones within University House.

A power failure at 2.00am disrupted central IT services.

Impact

Access to email, H:\ drives, web services and corporate systems.
