Project Update
IT Services are currently in consultation with academic colleagues creating a new software application that will automate more of the process and therefore provide a more consistent experience for students.
This new application will allow students to submit assignments electronically, and be a 'one-stop-shop’ for assignments - providing the necessary information in one place
February 2012
The pilot went live with two large modules in the Law department week commencing 6th February. Both modules were a complete success:
Module 1:- 300 students submitted an assignment and feedback was successfully returned to all of these 300. Monitoring tools have shown that 168 of the feedback forms were downloaded within the first hour, and 252 had been downloaded within 24 hours.
Module 2:- 124 students submitted an assignment and feedback was successfully returned to all of these 124. Monitoring tools have shown that 112 feedback forms were downloaded by 4pm the same day.
The monitoring of this return has proved very useful to the department meaning they can see exactly who is checking their feedback (and when). This is a much improved experienced to previously where students had to collect their feedback form from the Law reception and it was very sporadic as to when and if it was collected at all. There have been cases where months after feedback is made available, boxes of these can be still found at reception where they have not been picked up by students.
Next Activities
The next department to go live will be Sociology on Friday 17th February 2012 with module assignment of 135 students.
Sociology were not part of the original 7 user group pilot departments, but have signed up to use the system as part of the roll out.
Between February and May 2012, the various 7 user group departments and a few other departments that have also chosen to use the system will roll out with their module assignments. A full list of the assignment feedback due dates can be found on the project SharePoint site.
Development will continue to take place with regular releases approximately every fortnight
