    What the service status means

The status panel on the IT Services home page shows the current status of all the services provided by ITS, divided into related groups. Each group can have one of three status values; green, amber or red. They signify the following:-

    • Green: This service or group of services is running normally.
    • Amber: This service or group of services has a problem associated with it but the problem either does not affect a large group of users, or it does not have serious consequences, or both. For example, a service which is running more slowly than usual might have its status light set to amber.
    • Red: This service or group of services has a serious problem associated with it. For example, a service which is completely unavailable and is used by many people would have its status light set to red.

The status panel is only updated during office hours. It is not an automatic system which is plugged directly into the systems it describes, it is updated manually by IT Services staff.
