How do I get a blog?

To be able to get a blog, you must be a member of staff or a student here, at the University of Warwick. You must also have a valid IT Services username and password. Once you have those, you can register for a blog on-line.

  1. Go to http://blogs.warwick.ac.uk and click on the link that says 'Sign in'. The link is on the right hand side of the utility bar.

  4. You will be given a choice of names for your blog. Choose a name for your blog by selecting one of the suggestions. This will be the web address for your blog and will be something like http://blogs.warwick.ac.uk/yourname
  5. Decide on a title for your blog and type a title into the text box next to 'Blog title'. Your blog title will appear at the very top of your blog in the header bar.
  6. Enter a description for your blog. This will appear in the blog directory.
  7. Decide whether you would like your blog to appear in the blog directory. Click 'Yes' or 'No' next to 'Show in blog directory'.
  8. Select a design for your blog.
  9. Click on the 'register' button.

Your blog will be created automatically and a confirmation screen should appear with a link to your new blog. You will now be able to browse to your blog (at the address that you decided on in step four) and begin writing entries and creating galleries.

Note: If you wish, you can also request a group or project blog. You can choose the name for this type of blog more freely but it will have to be authorised before it goes live. Enter your proposed blog name into the textbox labelled 'Group/project blog name'. Then enter the reason you are requesting this blog into the textbox labelled 'Description'. Once your blog has been activated you can change this to something more suitable. Fill in the rest of the fields as above.
