Warwick Mobile web site
The University of Warwick has launched a new version of its web site designed to be used on mobile phones and other mobile devices.
The mobile site contains information about Warwick similar to that on the main website but carefully formatted specifically for the small screen i.e. concise, easy to read and navigate. The focus of the information is slightly different to that on the main site, as the mobile site is targetted to information supporting a mobile device user coming into Warwick from outside. For example, how to get here and what is where on campus.
As a result we have created a mobile web site that contains travel information, detailed maps, buildings, shop and café opening times, contact phone numbers and emergency information.
The site now contains links to several sources of live information. For example information like, what's on at the Arts Centre today and this week, links to live train arrival and departure information from Coventry station. Links to bus timetable information for stops around and near to the campus. For students there are also web pages refreshed every two minutes with information on the availability of IT work areas.
The mobile site (best viewed on a mobile phone!) can be reached at http://m.warwick.ac.uk/.
What do you think of the mobile site? Feedback and suggestions for improvement can be sent to webteam@warwick.ac.uk
