    Office 2010

PLEASE READ THIS! Upgrading to Office 2010 will update your Outlook profile. Once you have done this you can only access your e-mail on a managed ITS desktop that has been upgraded to Office 2010. You can still read e-mail on an unmanaged desktop (this includes the off-campus partition of an ITS laptop). If you need to use a managed ITS desktop that has Office 2007 installed you must use web access.

CAN'T LOGIN TO OUTLOOK after upgrading to Office 2010. 1. Clear the login box 2. Enter your ADS\username and Password. This should allow you to login normally. If you experience difficulties please call the Helpdesk on 73737.

Office 2010 has enhanced new features:

    • The Ribbon:

The Ribbon has been extended to all Office applications. The Office 2007 button has been replaced with a file menu icon. This lets you access your favourite commands quickly and customise or create tabs to personalise the experience.

    • New Picture formatting tools:

Edit and enhance photos in Word 2010 and Powerpoint 2010 – crop, control brightness, sharpen or soften and add visual effects.

    • Video in Powerpoint:

Edit and customise videos in PowerPoint 2010. Presentations can now be saved as a Windows Media file.

    • Present in a web browser:

Broadcast your PowerPoint 2010 presentation over the internet with Broadcast Slide Show.

    • Resource Accounts in Outlook 2010:

Office 2010 provides the facility to easily add multiple Exchange accounts to your profile. This means that if you manage other accounts, for example Resource Accounts, you can see all your emails in one place, as well as being able to see multiple calendars. Equally you can send emails from within 2010 and simply select which account you want to send from. This avoids having to log into accounts separately or access them via Outlook Web Access.

    • Conversation view in Outlook 2010:

Manage your email more effectively. Group e-mail replies from a single e-mail into an e-mail item with Conversation View.

    • Sparklines, Slicers and Powerpivot:

Use Sparklines in Excel 2010 to create small charts that make it easy to highlight trends in data at a glance. Use the Slicers feature for Pivot- tables allowing you to filter data on the fly. Use Powerpivot to analyse large volumes of data from a SQL server database.

    • Social Networking:

Get more information and stay in touch with Outlook Social Connector.

    • Find the features you need quickly:

The Microsoft Office Backstage view provides an environment for working with your documents so you can quickly save, print and share.

    • Access 2010:

Access has the following new features: web based databases, Application parts, Quick start fields, conditional formatting and Navigation form controls.
